An unidentified man in his 40s was found dead outside a mohalla clinic in Shahdara’s Geeta Colony on Thursday morning. Police suspect that he either died of illness or cold.

A senior officer said they received a call around 8:30 a.m. from a passer-by alerting them that a person is lying dead. When the police reached the spot, the man was found dead and wrapped under three-four blankets. “He appeared pale and sick. There were no external injuries on his body. The body has been shifted to Sabzi Mandi mortuary for a post-mortem,” the officer said.

While the man remained unidentified, enquiry revealed that he was a ragpicker and used to often stay near the mohalla clinic.

“A tea vendor nearby said that the deceased had tea around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Locals also revealed that he was ill and had taken medicines from the mohalla clinic two-three days ago. Though he didn’t have an Aadhaar Card, which is required to get medicines from mohalla clinic, they gave him medicines on humanitarian grounds,” the officer said.
