A 30-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping his live-in partner’s minor daughter in Ghaziabad’s Vijay Nagar police station area.
The 10-year-old mother lodged a complaint on Monday. “She said the man raped her daughter after getting drunk. She was out for work at the time of the incident. She said the accused drank heavily and often fought with her,” said Vijay Nagar police station SHO Rameshwar Singh.
The victim narrated the incident to her mother after she came home from work. The couple has been living together after she got divorced around five years ago. The victim’s mother works as domestic help while the accused is a labourer, they added.
The accused was arrested from his house, the officer added.
“A case under IPC Section 376AB [rape] and Section 3/4 of POCSO Act has been registered. He was sent to jail on Tuesday,” the officer added.
