A four-year-old boy who was kidnapped three-and-half month ago has been rescued, the police said on Thursday. They have arrested a couple in connection with the case.

“The child who belongs to Nepal, was kidnapped from north-west Delhi’s Rampura in Keshav Puram on April 5. The police took help from Nepal Police and Uttar Pradesh Police to rescue the boy,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West), Aslam Khan.

The Nepal Police then conducted a raid in Dugoliya village and rescued the child. Following this, they handed him to the Delhi Police at Sunauli border, the officer said.

The arrested woman, Sonam alias Poonam, had planned the crime three years ago to fulfil her desire of having a son.

“Sonam has a 10-year-old daughter but she wanted a son. However, her desire remained unfulfilled because of her health complications,” said Ms. Khan.

She has been living with her husband, Sonu, and their daughter in Rampura for the past 10 years, the officer added.
