Four held for robbery

Gang members would sedate victims

The outer district police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four men belonging to a gang that sedated their victims before stealing their valuables and vehicles.

Parveen (30), Suraj (28), Prakash (24) and Avdesh (36) were arrested from outer Delhi, and three auto-rickshaws were recovered from them. With these arrests, the police claimed to have solved 21 cases of thefts.

According to a senior police officer, a team of anti-auto theft squad of outer district was tasked with identifying these criminals.

Following a tip-off, the team laid a trap near Karala water tank and overpowered four persons travelling in a three-seater auto-rickshaw going towards Rani Khera.

The accused were interrogated and allegedly confessed to their involvement in several cases of vehicle and motor vehicle accessory thefts over the past year.

The officer said the accused belonged to poor families and turned to petty crime due to shortage of money.
