A retired Indian Air Force (IAF) doctor was arrested on Monday for rash driving a day after his car hit a motorcycle that led to the death of a 26-year-old woman. The victim, who was riding pillion on the two-wheeler, died after falling off Barapullah flyover in south Delhi on Sunday.

The police said that the accused, identified as Madhusudan Choudhary, owns a private hospital in Mayur Vihar Phase II. They said he was arrested from his house in Bhogal.

The retired IAF doctor lost control of his car on Sunday at a turn on the Barapullah flyover and hit the motorcycle. He was heading towards his home from the hospital when the accident happened.

Flung off the bike

“Victim Nisha flung off the bike and fell 30 feet below when the motorcycle was hit from behind by the accused’s car. Her husband Sunny is currently at the ICU in a critical condition,” said a police officer.

Nisha and Sunny celebrated their first marriage anniversary on December 3 last.
