With 19 days still left in September, Delhi received the highest rainfall for September in 77 years, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
This is also the second highest rainfall for the month of September in 121 years. The city has till now received 380.2 mm rainfall in September this year, and the highest was 417.3 mm in 1944, according to the IMD.

Rain in Delhi hit record levels as the city received 94.7 mm rainfall in 24 hours from 8.30 a.m. on Friday to the same time on Saturday. More rain is expected on Sunday. This is already, with some days left to go, the wettest monsoon season in Delhi in 46 years.
It rained during the rest of Saturday, too, and from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m, 39.8 mm of rainfall was recorded.
Till 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, the city had received 1,136.8 mm of rainfall this monsoon.
In 1975, 1,155.6 mm rainfall was received during the whole monsoon, and the highest rainfall of 1,420.3 mm was received in 1933, according to the IMD.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for the capital for Sunday, when cloudy skies and moderate rainfall are predicted. Light rains and cloudy skies are predicted for the following week, too.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was 26.8 degree Celsius, which is seven notches lower than the normal for this time of the year, and the minimum temperature was 24 degree Celsius, which is one degree below the expected level.
