The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Wednesday said the urban body had met representatives of the Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWA) over the issue of size of allotted flats.
“In the meeting, the RWAs raised the issue of small size of the flats allotted to them as LIG [lower income group]. They argued that the houses which were under the category of economically weaker section [EWS] were allotted to them as LIG flats and requested DDA to take remedial action including increasing the size of the bedrooms,” the urban body said in a statement.
The authority said that DDA Vice-Chairman Udai Pratap Singh had assured RWA representatives from Narela, Rohini, Sirsapur and Dwarka that the bedroom size has been proposed to be increased.
Waiver request
“Since the size of the flat is small, the RWAs requested the DDA to waive the remaining 10% of the cost to be deposited and the corresponding interest on that amount of the flats under the Housing Scheme, 2014. The DDA agreed to waive the interest on the amount and decided that the matter of waiver of the principal amount will be examined,” the statement added.
