A group of thieves allegedly broke into a jewellery store by making a hole in the shop’s concrete roof in north Rohini and decamped with gold and diamond ornaments, the police said on Friday.

The incident happened on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, they said.

Multiple officers who visited the spot pegged the loss at nearly ₹5 crore but official confirmation on actual value of the loot is still awaited.

The theft came to light on Friday morning when the owner opened the store, and found gold, silver and diamond jewellery missing. The thieves even took away cash from the shop. Anuj Garg, the owner of Agarwal Jewellers, reported the incident to the police.

The police are scanning the footage from CCTV cameras installed nearby as the ones in the shop were out of order. A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
