In the run-up to the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, student activists and candidates of the ABVP canvassed those staying at hostels and paying guest accommodations, on Sunday.

During conversations with the students, they raised the issue of shortage of hostels in DU, the group said in a statement.

“There is a huge shortage of hostels in DU that makes the situation difficult for students from other States,” the ABVP said. The members also spoke about their effort to campaign for the construction of new hostels and asked for support in this regard.

“Building hostels will be the key agenda in our manifesto. With commercialisation of private hostels, rents have gone up,” said Sidharth Yadav, state secretary of ABVP.
