Terming the alleged “manhandling” of Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs “very unfortunate”, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said the incident showed the “administrative and constitutional failure in Delhi under the AAP”.

Referring to the alleged attack on the Chief Secretary at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Monday night, Mr. Maken said that the Lieutenant-Governor should take action quickly so that officers could work in an atmosphere “without fear”.

He added that the L-G and the CM should resolve the issue together.

“The elected representatives are policy-makers, whereas the bureaucrats are the tools to implement them. If the elected representatives start fighting with their tools, then how will development take place,” Mr. Maken asked.

He added that Mr. Kejriwal should take legal and disciplinary action against the MLAs involved, failing which the CM had “no right to continue” in his post.
