The three accused in the much talked about Ashok Vihar triple murder case were remanded to five-day police custody by a local court here on Saturday.
Allowing the police to interrogate the accused for five days, Metropolitan Magistrate Satish Kumar said: “The accused persons are remanded to police custody till July 1. The police are directed to get them medically examined before producing them in court on the next date of hearing.”
Earlier, the police interrogated the accused inside the court premises for 30 minutes before moving an application for their custody.
The police in their plea said they needed their custody for ten days to unearth the entire “honours killing” conspiracy and take them to Rishikesh and Dehra Dun for recovery of the weapon of offence and other incriminating materials.
Defence counsel Gajraj Singh, appearing for the accused Ankit Chaudhary, Mandeep Nagar and Nakul Khari, however, opposed the plea saying that custodial interrogation of his clients was not required as the probe by the Delhi Police was over.
The three, who had been absconding since June 20, were arrested by the Garh Mukteshwar Police in neighbouring Ghaziabad on Thursday following a tip-off that three men in a car were moving suspiciously in the area.
On Friday, the three were produced before a court in Garh Mukteshwar and remanded to judicial custody. Later the Delhi Police obtained production warrants against the accused and the jail authorities in Dasna were accordingly directed to produce the three at the Delhi court on Saturday.
