Pink Taxi, a cab service “by and for women,” will be launched on June 6 in the city. The taxi service will have only women drivers and will be available for only women customers, said V. Anand, Managing Director, Pink Taxi.

“We are initially starting with eight taxis,” he said. The recruited women drivers were trained for three days on handling the mobile application and facing different situations with the customers.

Pink Taxi is a part of the Coimbatore-based cab aggregator Red Taxi. This all-women cab services will be available between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mr. Anand said.

However, he admitted that there were difficulties in recruiting women for cab driving as very few women with driving licence were willing to take up the job. When asked whether this would affect the company's growth, Mr. Anand said, “Hopefully, we will try to manage the demand.”
