Three thatched roof huts located behind Lakshmi Mahal in Kannampalayam near Sulur were destroyed in fire on Friday.
The Peelamedu Fire and Rescue Services personnel, who rushed to the spot, said that seven daily wagers from Karur were residing in those huts that were located close to one another.
According to the personnel, six of the occupants had gone to work and Gayathri (15) was alone in one of the huts when the fire spread. It is learnt that she was fast asleep when the incident took place around 11.45 a.m. She rushed out of her hut after it caught fire. Public informed the fire service personnel and also tried to put out the fire.
None injured
No one was injured in the incident. Inquiry is on.
