The Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination for the second batch of students under the Samacheer Kalvi system of education got underway in the district on Wednesday. As many as 48,754 students were scheduled to take the examinations in 141 centres in the Coimbatore and Pollachi Education Districts.
Chief Education Officer A. Gnanagowri said that no incidences of malpractices were reported on the first day of the examination. The students wrote their Language Paper I. The SSLC examination will continue till April 12.
In the Coimbatore Education District 38,242 students appeared for the examination in 105 centres. And those include private candidates. In the Pollachi Education District, as many as 9,227 students appeared for the examination from 26 centres.
Ms. Gnanagowri said that the School Education Department had deployed around 3,700 personnel on examination duty. Of those 3,000 would be in the Coimbatore Education District and the rest would be in the Pollachi Education District.
In Coimbatore Education District, students from 409 schools took the examination, while in Pollachi Education District students from 95 schools took the examination.
