Legislative Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal along with Minister for Animal Husbandry Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan inaugurated 10 structures including government buildings and water tanks at Avinashi Panchayat Union here on Saturday.
The facilities were built by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj at a cost of ₹ 96.68 lakh, a release said.
The buildings included Village Panchayat Service Centre, Panchayat Office, godown for grains and an anganwadi centre. Following this, six ground level storage water tanks with capacities of one lakh litres were inaugurated.
Mr. Dhanapal and Mr. Radhakrishnan also distributed welfare assistance worth ₹ 3.87 crore including cash assistance for marriage, house pattas and farm equipment to 760 beneficiaries, according to the release. District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan, and District Rural Development Agency Project Director J. Rooban Sankar Raj were present.
