The Nilgiris District Crime Branch Police and the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation administration have launched an investigation into the alleged fraud by three employees of a sales outlet in Ooty.

According to sources, during a physical verification of stocks by the divisional manager of Tasmac it came to light that a supervisor and two salesmen of the shop near Ooty Market had fudged stock figures to siphon of collection money.

They said that a probe suggested that the three could have been at it since December 2014 and the total amount taken away could be close to Rs. 40 lakh.

Daily collection

The employees were supposed deposit the daily collection the next day at the designated bank. But they deposited only less amounts showing fudged sales figures.

But a tally of the amount deposited, stock at hand and stock delivered did not add up, the sources said and added that the police and the Tasmac administration have launched separate probes.
