The Salem Market Committee functioning under the Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business Department launched a new regulated market in Edappadi recently.

The Committee, which covered the districts of Salem and Namakkal, already accounted for 19 regulated markets – Salem district 13 and Namakkal district 6.

The new market will function at Vellarivelli village.

K. Manivannan, special officer, Salem Market Committee, who was the chief guest, said that the 19 regulated markets already functioning in Salem and Namakkal districts served the farmers well in marketing their products.

R. Selladurai, secretary of the Salem Market Committee, explained the various advantages of the regulated markets. The farmers can keep their farm produce in the godowns of the regulated markets by paying reasonable rent and can market them when they fetched good price.
