The tourism board of the Nepal Government plans to attract two million tourists to the country in 2020.

According to a press release, Nepal registered nearly 25 % growth in the number of visitors from India in 2017. The Nepal Tourism Board says it registered over two lakh visitors from India that year. The Indian market will continue to be one of the main contributors of international visitors to Nepal. At present, about one million visitors travel to Nepal a year from different countries. It is expected to double as the Nepal Tourism Board promotes “Visit Nepal” campaign.

The Nepal Government plans to operate two new international airports - Pokhara and Lumbini. It also proposes to run Tribhuvan International Airport for an additional three hours from the regular 18. The private hotel sector is expected to add 4,000 rooms in the four and five-star categories in Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara.

Sanjeet, director of Buzz Travel Marketing India, has said in a press release that the Nepal Sales Mission 2019 is held in eight cities across the country, including Coimbatore and Madurai in Tamil Nadu, from January 10 to February 1. It brings together travel trade partners in each of these cities and updates them about Destination Nepal. The Nepalese team is interacting with about 80 travel agents in each city. It held a meeting here on Wednesday.
