A day after an employee was found murdered inside a Tasmac outlet in Krishnagiri, the employees of the State-run liquor outlets in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri downed shutters and staged protest demonstrations.

The protesters demanded the arrest of those behind the murder and sought police protection for all outlets.

On the midnight of August 14, Raja (44), employee of a Tasmac outlet in Nadusalai near Gurubarapalli in Krishnagiri, was found murdered inside the outlet by co-workers.

In Dharmapuri, over 300 Tasmac outlet employees staged a sit-in wearing black badges.

The main demands of the protesters included ₹25 lakh compensation to the victim’s family and job for a family member on compassionate grounds.

The protesters also demanded security for Tasmac workers who carry the daily collections. According to the protesters, there were recurrent attacks on workers while in transit, robbing them of the collections.
