The investors of a chit fund firm on Wednesday petitioned the City Police Commissioner seeking action against the owners of the firm for cheating them.

According to the aggrieved petitioners, the proprietors of the company Siva Soorya Krishna Chits India Private Limited had failed to return their investments. The firm operated through five branches at Town Hall, Thudiyalur, Poomarket, Lakshmi Mills junction and Saravanampatti.

The investors who came to the office of Commissioner alleged that owners of the firm, Muralidharan and Latha Muralidharan, shut down the branches from May 2018. They said that the couple, who initially attended calls and promised to return money, has now switched off their mobile phones. As per the petition filed by M. Jothilakshmi, one of the investors, the firm duped her of ₹1 lakh. She had deposited ₹500 per month since November 17, 2016.

The petitioners sought the arrest of the couple and recovery of their properties. The police are investigating.
