The Pollachi Train Passengers’ Association (PTPA) has urged the Palakkad division of the Southern Railway to ensure more connecting trains at Pollachi for the 56769 Palakkad-Tiruchendur passenger.
In a memorandum submitted to the Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, recently, the association said train no. 06083 (Coimbatore-Pollachi) will benefit more commuters if its timing was changed so that passengers going to the southern districts can get down at Pollachi and take the Palakkad-Tiruchender passenger. To enable this, the departure time of train No. 06083 should be advanced by 20 to 30 minutes from the existing 5.50 a.m. at Coimbatore, and simultaneously the departure time of Palakkad-Tiruchendur passenger should be delayed by 15 minutes so that it be would possible for the commuters of Coimbatore-Pollachi train to take the Palakkad-Tiruchendur train.
The PTPA has also urged the Southern Railway to enhance passenger amenities at Pollachi junction , said B. Mohanraj, secretary of the association.
