The national carrier Air India will start daily direct flight between Coimbatore and Delhi from December 1. The new service connecting the city to the national capital will be a non-stop flight.
Though Air India is currently operating services to Delhi, the service is operated via Chennai.
Officials with the Air India in Coimbatore said the new daily flight will leave Delhi at 21:15 hours and reach Coimbatore at 00:30 hours. The flight will leave Coimbatore at 01:00 hours and reach Delhi at 04:00 hours.
“The new service is expected to be a boon for business travellers as well as passengers who want to get early morning flights to other destinations from Delhi. This will also aid passengers from Coimbatore to access early morning flights to foreign destinations,” said Airport Director R. Mahalingam.
Officials with Air India said that the direct flight to the national capital will facilitate passengers to get connected to more than 30 domestic destinations in the North and East of the country on arrival in Delhi.
The passengers can also get flights to around 20 international destinations including Europe from Delhi. Air India has announced 15 days advance purchase fares start from ₹2,944 and if the connections are within 24 hours the bags can be tagged through to the final destination.
While the free baggage allowance in economy class is 25 kg and business class passengers can carry up to 35kg.
At present, Air India is operating flights to Chennai and Mumbai from Coimbatore International Airport other than the flight to Delhi via Chennai.
