Residents of Chinnabommanacikenpalayam, Bharathi Nagar, Srinagar, Pappa Nagar and six other colonies in the city resorted to road blockade agitation on Friday morning to express their anguish over the apathy shown by the Corporation in addressing their grievances pertaining to basic amenities.
Traffic along Tirupur-Perumanallur Highway was disrupted for almost two hours due to the agitation.
Water supply
The protestors complained that drinking water was supplied to them only once in a month and garbage piling in the public places were not been removed daily.
Mosquito menace
Another major problem faced by the dwellers in the said areas was the mosquito menace which, according to them, has become severe over the last few weeks.
“The anti-larval measures are not carried out properly by the Corporation administration to control the mosquito breeding,” they accused.
Power crisis
The residents also expressed their disappointment over the worsening power crisis which had forced many textile units in the locality to down shutters.
Action
They moved away only after the Corporation officials assured them of action in issues pertaining to drinking water supply and mosquito control.
