A total of 14 bull tamers suffered injuries at the jallikattu held in Kariyaperumalpudur village near Erumapatti on Saturday.
About 280 bulls from the districts of Namakkal, Salem, Tiruchi, Perambalur and Pudukottai were released at the play arena through the vaadi vaasal and more than 200 youth from different parts of the western districts attempted to tame them.
The event commenced with the administration of pledge to the bull tamers by P. R. Sundaram, MP, and C. Chandrasekaran, MLA.
The youth, who succeeded in taming the bulls, won cots, mixers, cookers, gold and siver coins, and silver pots as prizes.
The owners of the bulls, which managed to give a slip to the tamers, were also given special prizes.
All the injured were given first aid at the venue itself, official sources said.

About 20 youth suffered injuries in the jallikattu held in Sentharapatti village near Gangavalli on Saturday.
District Collector Rohini R. Bhajibhakare inaugurated the jallikattu, after administering oath the participants in the presence of S. K. Mittal, convener of the Animal Welfare Board of India inspection team, and other officials.
A total of 450 bulls of various districts were released through the vaadi vaasal and 500 youth attempted to tame them. Prizes were given to both the bull tamers and the owners of the bulls which successfully tackled the youth. K. Kamaraj, MP, R.M.Chinnathambi and A. Maruthamuthu, both MLAs, were present.
