Decomposed bodies of three persons were found in their house at Muthyalanagar in Yeshwantpur on Saturday.

The body of Sheshapani, 44, who had been ailing for a long time, was found next to a chair. The police suspect that immediately after his death, his wife, Usha Nandini, 42, and his mother, Sudha Lakshmi, 68, committed suicide in front of the body.

The family, which hailed from Andhra Pradesh, had migrated to the city several years ago. They were running a tailoring shop, the police said, and added that the couple had no children.

The incident came to light on Saturday night when the houseowner Naveen Kumar sensed foul smell emanating from the house.

Financial crisis

A senior police official said their inquiries had revealed that Sheshapani was suffering from prolonged illness but could not afford treatment. The family had slipped into financial crisis over the past couple of months.

When Sheshapani died, his wife and mother locked the door and killed themselves without informing any relatives, said the police.
