The homerun of the first half of season four of Suits in episode seven comes as a sort of reset button at Pearson Specter with Mike going full circle with the firm again.
The popular television series kicked off season four with Mike working for investment banker Jonathan Sidwell leading to a takeover battle which pits Mike and his company against Pearson Specter’s client Logan Sanders. Logan, who also happens to be Rachel's former boyfriend, holds much of this episode in the balance as his mind games bounce off both Rachael and Mike and affect their almost perfect relationship.
With Sidwell losing the battle in episode six and Mike’s subsequent firing, episode seven tethers on new prospective for Mike who initially decides to bury the horror of his fraudulent past by looking for new offers, but is rudely shattered when Rachael reveals her secret with Logan. The entire episode revolves around this tug-of-war in their relationship after this. Will they get back together? Meanwhile, the underlying tension between managing partners Jessica and Harvey escalates with Louis’ reward that ultimately goes to put Mike back into the picture. Louis does become the hero of the day with his tactful handling of some grim situations despite his obvious arrogance.
On the other hand, it seems everyone wants Rachael and Mike to get back together and go out of the way to make it happen. Even the die-hard no-cheating-on-women policy Harvey offers Mike some unwarranted advice on this issue. While their chemistry is yet to take hold, it is needless to say, their not-so-happy romance is going to be centrepiece to the season.
Jessica and Malone patch up quickly in this episode but it seems to be getting a choice between work and relationship and while Jessica unceremoniously fires him with a smirk, it remains to be seen if she was joking or not. With so many things going down, the one thing looking up is Logan’s exit and Mike’s return. But is this the calm before the storm?
