Ammu waits for a new home

Ammu waits for a new home

Ammu, a snow white cat has always been lucky to have the company of kind people. She was once the much-loved pet of a lady who doted on her and treated her as a member of the family. When the lady passed away, a friendly neighbourhood watchman called Sanjeevi decided to be her new guardian. Sanjeevi who lived in the compound next door generously chose to share his food twice a day with the lonely cat who soon became his regular companion during breakfast and dinner.

Ammu’s owner’s house was eventually sold and the giant mango tree that was her refuge was cut down shortly after. Ammu was terrified but shifted to a nearby area and continued to visit Sanjeevi for her food. On occasions that he was on night duty, she would curl up next to him peacefully and fall asleep. Ammu’s well-wishers and friends of her owner set up a regular supply of food to ensure her good health. In the meantime, Sanjeevi remained committed to caring for her on an everyday basis.

Last week, Sanjeevi was diagnosed with diabetes and found that he would have to be hospitalised for treatment. His biggest concern is the well-being of his trusted, long-time friend who is now a regal, 8-year-old cat. He hopes that she will find a new home that will treat her with the same respect and affection that she is used to. Ammu is a shy cat but warms to people easily when she finds that they are her friends, after which she emits loud purrs of approval and circles their feet in excitement. Ammu has been spayed and is in perfect health. She is known to all as a gentle survivor with an angelic presence.
