A simple person with a super cool attitude, Sharman Joshi's off screen and on screen personas up his likability quotient. Starting his acting career in 1999 with “Godmother”, Sharman's roles in movies like “Rang De Basanti”, “Life in a Metro”, “Dhol” and “3 Idiots” have proved that character roles can leave a lasting image in the minds of the audience.

Sharman was in city to launch “Chennai is Upbeat” and “India is Upbeat” campaign as a part of 7 Up's brand positioning and for the flag-off of a nation-wide dance odyssey to bottle India's UPtimism! NXg catches up with him. Here's a leaf out of Sharman's slam book…

Moviedom began for me… with “Godmother”. Even though it was a cameo, my character was appreciated.

If movies did not click I would have been… some sort of businessman and turned into another Ambani!

What you don't know about me… won't hurt you

Thing(s) I look for in a script … is the impact after the first reading.

The best holiday I've had… was when I went to Aruba in the Caribbean island. Not only was it a fancy destination but it definitely lived up to its name.

If my life was a movie it would have been… All I can say “Beautiful”.

The last place you would find me… is at a cricket stadium. I don't like watching matches in a stadium.

Music to me is… soulful and I like listening to ghazals and popular Hindi music.

My job sucks when… being a team effort, the other guys don't do their part well. It sucks!

I feel like a star… all the time.

My mantra in life… is to keep it simple, always!

My first aspiration… was to be an actor.

The best movie I have seen is… “It's a Wonderful Life”

One inner demon I want to conquer is… Nothing very significant right now, but chances of it cropping up later is there. For now it's under control

I would beg, borrow, steal… For my kids

One yesteryear actor I would lust for… Madhubala

My favourite item song… Has to be Kajra re

One actor I envy is… Amitabh Bachchan. He's so good!

Three things that win my heart… Honesty, simplicity and uncomplicated

The “three idiots” in my life… My three kids

What's the good word?

A word(s) you use often: Damn good!

Your friend for the longest time: Kasim

Style statement: Simple and comfortable

Memorable crush: Madhuri Dixit

Dressed as a woman you would hit on: Sharman Joshi

Favourite co-star: Aamir Khan

Favourite food and drink: Burmese, 7 Up

Why 7Up? It's cool and easy going, just like me.
