The first thing that comes to mind is the feeling you get when you realise your name is featured at the end of the article and that thousands of people are going to read it. It's just awesome to have a place to share things we know with a large audience. This is the only paper I know of that encourages us, the readers, to actively be a part of this venture. And then, there's the cheques; who can deny that?

I just want to say that NXg is the best publication out there for people of our age group. Here's wishing a great second anniversary and hoping we have many many more. Writing for it has been a lot of fun! The actual effort taken to read a book, eat at a restaurant, interview people and research for a serious article is definitely worth it, when you see your work in print and appreciated by many. Writing for NXg has enabled me to get many more opportunities to write articles and even edit some. Besides, it is a wonderful stres-reliever...at least for me, since I enjoy penning my thoughts! And since I have been with this paper right from the very beginning, I have seen it grow and I am very appreciative of the sometimes “controversial” articles that it brings out into the open. Good luck NXg! Keep up the good work!

My association with NXg over the past two years is a chapter in my life that I am never going to forget. After coming to Chennai in the eighth standard, my life revolved around only studies, movies and books. But after I started writing for both the Young World and NXg, I discovered the writer in me, and I learnt to appreciate different styles of writing in various books and news papers. I found it relaxing when I put all my thoughts down on paper and it has really boosted my confidence and not to mention my English marks. I have made a lot of new friends and people that I have never seen before have come up to me after hearing my name and appreciated my articles.

NXg — Three letters that convey a lot. It represents the new generation, us. It presents the opportunity for scores of us to debate, analyse and express. Personally, it has been my home turf of sorts where, as the famous Chinese proverb says, I do and I understand. With an experienced set of editors to guide me, peers to encourage me and the world around me to motivate, NXg has brought me that much closer to achieving my dream of making a difference with the written word. Every time I hear “Hey! I saw you in the papers!”, I mouth a secret ‘thank you' to NXg and the brains at The Hindu who, a little over two years ago, decided to start this brand new supplement. My relationship with NXg goes beyond just paper and ink. It is a bond I have formed with the people. It is a relationship I have nurtured with the institution. If NXg was a mirror, it would show each one of us, the faces of our generation, our habits, likes, dislikes, attitudes and everything else there is to know. NXg is more than a mere platform. It is a reflection of us.

If not for NXg I would have never discovered that I had a flair and passion for writing. I look forward to reading this paper every Thursday because not only the news, but the people who write are also ones that I can relate to! Another wonderful experience was when I had a chance to speak as one of the NXG person of the year finalists (although I did embarrass myself a lot!).The best is yet to come; many times I have felt like screaming out loud, my opinions on some of the issues that really get on my nerves. And yes, NXG has very democratically accepted all those times when youngsters like us wanted to scream our opinion! I am sure even after many years nothing can compensate the happiness I felt when I picked up a copy of Nxg and saw my name in print for the first time!

NXg was the best thing that happened to me last year. When I started writing for it around May, I never thought that the experience would turn out the way it did! In the past ten months, among other things, I got to do a really cool inside story on drugs, have become (something of a) reviewer, and absolutely loved a bonus three-week tour to parts of India I didn't know existed.
NXg is an unbiased, open platform for the young. And it has pretty much taught me to be the same. Besides, in the course of the past year, I've met some very talented people, learnt of clarity in thought and expression and of the supreme importance of word limits. I've earned both bouquets and brickbats, and now know that every shade of opinion is to be given its due.
The best part of NXg is that its editors are really tuned-in to the city's beat. And understand the audience better (and quicker) than the rest of us do. I hope I'll always find space here. And yes, I promise to watch the word count.

Writing for the NXg has been a great learning experience. I not only met talented writers, but was also exposed to a plethora of ideas that helped me improve my writing style. There was always new areas to explore and never a dull moment being in the NXg family.!

I can't believe that it's been two years already! Writing for NXg has been an experience of the better. I think I have almost given up looking at anything like a normal person; I try to find the ‘story' quotient in almost anything under the sun. Keeping all that aside, I think NXg has been a great platform for people like me who love to write. It has given me the support to write, write for the love of it. And who can ignore the ego boosting by-line that you get?
As a reader too, NXg has barely disappointed. Over two years, they managed to divert attention to important topics like drug, child and sexual abuse and identities. All this is in perfect tandem with the very welcomed pieces of music, books and drama. NXg to me is a fun part of an otherwise boring day called Thursday; it's everything that the new generation is all about — balancing fun and work. Congratulations to NXg for coming a long way, it's been a pleasure being a part of the team and I eagerly look forward for more!
