A wedding today means a lot of things — a modern matchmaking service, designer cards and garments, classy jewellery and gifts, a high-end decorator, candid photography, and, of course, a getaway for the couple after it all. Bringing all these departments together under one roof is Wedding Vibes, on at CODISSIA, Hall A, till August 3.

A little more than 50 stalls have been set up at the expo, bringing together retailers in the wedding business from across the country.

Sarah stands inside a gorgeously done-up pink and gold stall. She’s manager of Chennai-based The Fair Lady Designer. They have brought in heavily embroidered blouses, dazzling designer cholis with stonework, anarkalis, mom-and-baby clothes and more. “We do matching clothes for mothers and children for occasions such as birthdays. They are very popular,” she says. The stall also houses Bells n Rings, a matrimonial service. Both firms are run by the Aachi group of companies.

Nearby is Knots n Rings, again from Chennai. They are specialists in candid wedding photography and wedding movies. The stall manager says they accompany the couple wherever they want to (they recently travelled to Wayanad and even Gujarat), and make them a movie they’ll watch forever.

Madurai-based MSP, which has branches in Coimbatore and Chennai, takes the wedding video experience one step further with its 3D HD videos, with 5.1 audio track. It also gives clients a 2D version of the same.

City designer Megha Asher’s stall features cocktail saris, dressy kurtas with stylish cuts and casual shirts with a burst of sequins or some elegant embroidery. They can be teamed with a range of accessories that Megha has put together with care. Think chunky neckpieces that can transform a simple beach wear or a plain but well-cut top. She also sells high-end cotton fabric that is fully embroidered.

Megha’s stall also stocks Juicy Chemistry, her latest not-for-profit organic line of handcrafted skin care products. Choose from body scrubs and bath bombs. She also has some delicious peanut butter squares drizzled with chocolate.

Many other stalls have focussed on silk saris, jewellery and wedding gifts. An entire row is devoted to customised holiday and honeymoon options. Seems a great idea, for a holiday is just the thing to take up after the hustle and bustle of a wedding.

The expo, organised by Mark 1 Events, is on from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
