How often I see my friends travelling from NCR to Delhi in search of some tasty food. Not completely bereft of good options, the newly developed NCR regions are yet to catch up with the Capital in that respect. The residents of Gurgaon, however, have one more option. Laurent & Benon Group has launched their in-house brand Martin Brown at Corporate Inn Gurgaon. Martin Brown is a multi-speciality, restro–bar outlet, offering a sophisticated fine dining experience.

Chefs at Martin Brown have curated the menu to suit the palate of diners across the region, be it the insatiable meat lover or the staunch vegetarian. Apart from the lunch and dinner menu, Martin Brown also offers continental, intercontinental and traditional Indian breakfast as well.

There were three variations of salads — Lebanese mezze, caesar and Greek salad — to accompany the meal. Greek salad was refreshing and good to have in summers as it has got good variety of veggies seasoned with salt, dried oregano and dressed with Olive oil.

Starters were full of surprises. Minced Rampuri, a delicacy from the family of seekh kababs made of minced lamb, onions, green chillies and coriander in spicy marinade, pressed onto a skewer and then smoke roasted in a tandoor had the aroma of charcoal and was succulent enough to bite. Chicken tikka and chicken satay were perfectly seasoned and grilled. Grilled skewers of chicken went off well with the spicy peanut sauce. The sauce pairs well with any kind of skewers. For a change I liked the chilly paneer as it was soft inside and had that thin crust of Indian spices which made it crispier after frying.

Mix grilled in the main course was a delight for a meat lover like me. Grilled lamb chops not so big and tender, were perfectly done. Chicken breast was juicy as it absorbed the spices and the marinade to its core. Half roast Moroccan chicken was a unique delicacy. Its half open chicken marinated with hung curd and coated with mixed herbs and served with khus khus and mushroom sauce had a glazed top. It was one of the most tender chicken portions I have eaten in recent times.

I satisfied my sweet tooth with kesari phirnee and a cool refreshing Italian tiramisu.

Meal for two Rs. 1700 – Rs. 2000
