Over 30 children from Stds. II to X in city, recently enjoyed time together involved in two different activities, one being creative and the other to hone academic skills. The venue was JustBooks, a library in Bejai.
Maths is a challenge for most students. The activity as academic booster was Common errors in Maths conducted by resource person Dinesh Nayak.
Common error
The kids of Std VI and VII were shown repetitive errors done by oversight.
Frequent scope for error in concepts like decimal points, addition and subtraction were brought to children's notice.
They were also told about the importance of cross-verification after every problem. Further, kids were also given recreational Maths exercise for some fun between serious study.
Aditya, of Std V, Sharada Vidyalaya wanted more like these events.
Amar Kamath, partner of the library, said that the event on Maths was to boost children's confidence and the WoW event stressed mainly on creativity.
At WoW (short form for Wealth out of Waste) competition, children between seven and 15 years participated enthusiastically and submitted creative works made out of things perceived as waste.
Anita Padua, student of Std II, Lourdes Central School, created a book stand out of waste cardboard.
