Enjoyable trip

During my Onam vacations this year, my family and I went for a short trip to Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari. We travelled by Vembanad Express and reached Thiruvananthapuram at night.

The next morning, we went to the Padmanabha Swamy Temple and offered our prayers. From there we went to the Shangumugham beach where I had lots of fun at “Ice-World” by running on the ice and throwing snow at one another. It was a temporary structure built with artificial ice inside. We roamed around the beach and watched the waves lashing the shore. The highlight of the beach was a huge statue of the “Mermaid”.

Then we went to Veli and took a boat cruise on the backwaters.

We also visited the Science Museum and watched 3D movies in the amphitheatre which was scary as well as an exciting experience. There was also a “Stars and Constellation” show at the Planetarium which was informative and fun.

The next day we left for Kanyakumari. It was my first trip to the southern most tip of India.

The sun rising from the horizon was a breathtaking sight and it cast a golden colour on the landscape.

We visited the Vivekananda Rock located a few miles away from the main coast. This was the place where the great philosopher and writer sat in meditation for three days. The place has had calming effect on us.

It was a truly enjoyable trip and I would like to visit the place again.
