The 38th Sree Neelakanta Sivan Sangeetha Aradhana Mahotsavam in connection with the 113th Samadhi day of the saint composer will be held in the capital city from July 26 to August 6. The fete is at SSJDB Mandapam, Sastha Nagar, Karamana, Thiruvananthapuram.
At 6 p.m., on July 26, the festival begins with a clarinet concert by A.K.C. Natarajan with Idappally Ajithkumar on the violin, Tanjore Ramadas on the mridangam and Trivandrum Karthikeyan on the ghatam.
Two concerts have been scheduled every day – at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Concerts by Nandita Gurunath Hari and T.V. Sankaranarayanan are on July 27.
On July 28, disciples of Parvathipuram Padmanabha Iyer render Neelakanta Sivan kritis at 9 a.m.
Sushma Somasekharan and Sanjay Subramanyam are the vocalists performing on that day. Recitals by Lakshmi Vinayak and K. Gayathri are on July 29.
Vocal concerts by Vidya Subramanian and Adoor Sudarsanan are on July 30. Tune in to Master Sidharth and Amrutha Venkatesh on July 31.
On August 1, it is the turn of Master Viswesh Swaminathan and Pattabhiram Pandit to entertain the discerning audience. While Maheswari Venkitaraman (veena) and N. Vijay Siva perform on August 2, Sivaganesh and Mysore Chandakumar (flute) take to the stage on August 3.
On August 4, being the Samadhi Day of Neelakanta Sivan, Udayaloor Kalyanaraman renders bhajans at 9.30 a.m. While Master P.L. Harikrishnan and Abhilash perform a jugalbandhi at 4 p.m., Abhishek Reghuram’s recital is at 6 p.m.
On August 5, Mahathy performs on the keyboard (4 p.m.). Nedumkunnam R. Sreedev’s vocal concert follows. On the final day, that is August 6, K.N. Renganatha Sarma’s vocal concert is at 6 p.m.
Sree Neelakanta Sivan Sangeetha Sabha Trust, which is organising the fete, is also holding a music competition at the same venue on July 27 from 9 a.m.
