Ooty Chocolates, a family-run enterprise catering to sweet lovers in Conoor for 40 years, came to Tambaram in 2010. The move has done wonders for the company. It opened another outlet in 2012, this time in Chrompet. The branch at Tambaram branch gets nearly 30 customers daily and the one at Chrompet, nearly 60 a day.

But there is a problem. Chennai climate is not friendly to these chocolates. They melt before they could reach any mouths. Garibaldi, the man at the helm, says, “It may sound silly, but we keep telling our customers to keep the chocolates in the fridge for five minutes and then eat.”

In Bangalore, where Ooty Chocolates has a strong presence, the company ties up with Corporate companies which buy and give our chocolates to their employees on special days. “We are planning similar tie-ups in Chennai from this month,”says Garibaldi.

Xavier, a customer, says, “I am a regular at the Tambaram outlet. I love these chocolates as much as my children do. Probably, more so.” For details, contact Garibaldi at 9840656317.
