Mugamoodi

Mugamoodi

The audio launch of Mugamoodi will be remembered for more reasons than one — Mysskin’s witty speech and Jiiva’s speech in which he apologised to his assistants for his outbursts during the making of the film.

Jiiva said, “I want to thank my make-up man and assistant — Subba Rao and Kumar — for bearing the brunt of my outbursts. Wearing that superhero costume was tiresome and I could not show my displeasure to anyone else.”

Mysskin, in his typical candid style, said, “There has been a lot of hype about Mugamoodi . I would like to set the record straight by saying that it is an ordinary film but with an intense and interesting storyline. So, don’t expect something like Christopher Nolan’s Batman in Mugamoodi — here the superhero doesn’t perform eye-popping stunts. Expect a good film and you’ll enjoy it.”

That wasn’t all. The director had the audience in splits when he said, “I have to say something about my producer Dhananjayan. We had endless skirmishes and ended up rolling on the floor fighting. We actually fought like superheroes. However, his constant support has been splendid and I thank him for it. We are planning a sequel to this film.”

Another Bharathiraaja find

Looks like work on director Bharathiraaja’s next film, Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum , is progressing at a brisk pace.

The veteran director has decided on the second heroine of his film and she has already begun work.

Newcomer Subiksha, who plays the wife of the hero, says, “This is my debut in Tamil. Apart from Bharathiraaja’s project, I am working on Friendship , a Malayalam film directed and produced by Khader Hassan.”

Subiksha, who is from Bellary, knows four languages. She adds, “I am a Bharatanatyam dancer and have been practising this classical form from age 3.”

A different path

Director Rasu Madhuravan, known for providing family entertainers, seems to be in a mood for experimentation. His next film, Pandi Oli Peruki Nilayam , is a romantic comedy.

He says this film will also have a generous dose of family sentiment like his other creations. Says Rasu Madhuravan, “Next I am directing dance master Lawrence in a film titled Parama, an action comedy. Work on it will start in October. I wanted to try my hand at a romantic comedy before working on an action comedy and hence chose to make Pandi Oli Peruki Nilayam. However, this film, apart from romance and comedy, will focus on the difficulties parents undergo to make their children succeed in life and the indifference of the youngsters towards them.”
