Mayanginaen Thayanginaen

What it is about…

Thaiman Thiraiyagam’s Mayanginaen Thayanginaen an unusual love story. The cast includes Nithin Sathya, Disha Pande, ‘Ganja’ Karuppu, Pawan, Tharun Chatriya, Tejashree, Ajai Rathnam and Bala. Rameswaran is the cameraperson; Kannan, the music composer; Udayashankar, the editor; Deva, the art director; and V. Prabhakar, the dialogue-writer. The story, screenplay and direction are by S. Vendan. The film is produced by T. Rajeswari. The audio was released by Venkat Prabhu and the first CD was received by actor Namitha.

Music Highlights

There are six songs in the album. The title song, ‘Mayanginean thayanginean,’ written by Viveka, comes twice in the album. This short number is sung first by Sathya Prakash, and the second time by Thilaka who excels. ‘Adivarum thera’ is a hummable, folk tune sung by Mukesh and Chinnaponnu, and penned by Yugabharathi. ‘Kanavil neeyum’ is also by the same lyricist and sung by Vijay Prakash. The pallavi is in raga Charukesi, while the charanam is in Sankarabharanam — this unique fusion of ragas makes the song interesting. Swetha’s voice in ‘Kadavulin koil idhayame’ is sweet; the song is written by Ilayakamban. ‘Unnai vittu pona,’ sung by Haricharan and written by Viveka, is worth listening.

What they say…

Producer Rajeswari:Mayanginaen Thayanginaen is the launch pad for my son Bala. When director Vendan narrated the storyline to me, I felt Bala would fit the role of a mechanic to a T. Another factor that influenced my decision to produce the film is V. Prabhakar’s dialogue. He has penned the dialogue for hits such as Pokkiri and Guru Paarvai.

Director S. T. Vendan: It is a love a story with a message. Four friends and the happenings in their life form the story. I have also included in the screenplay a message about how mentally challenged people are abused. We have shot one song using a Super 35mm camera. A youthful film, it has all the ingredients that will make it a box office success.

Hero Nithin Sathya: I do not want to do a hundred films; I just want to do films that will prove my talent. Hence I have very few films to my credit. I feel Mayanginaen Thayanginaen will certainly help me make it to the top.

Music director Kannan: After the successful Thamizh Padam , I signed up for this film. I liked the story; it has ample scope to showcase my musical talent in the re-recording. The film serves a twin purpose — while it entertains it also sends out a powerful message. The songs also have come out well.
