What it is about…

S. P. Films' maiden venture Kandathum Kanathathum is produced by Sankaranarayanan S and S. Indhu. Written and directed by Seelan, the film features Vikash and Swashika in the lead with R. Sundararajan, ‘Barotta' Suri, Risha and ‘Super Good' Lakshman lending support. Venshi Baski has cranked the camera. B. S. Vasu is the editor and A. C. Sekar, the art director. Kandathum Kanathathum revolves around two college-going students who begin as friends but later separate due to some misunderstanding. Whether they come together again, burying their differences forms the plot. The audio of film was released recently.

Music highlights

‘Murra murra,' penned by Vaseekaran and sung by Chinmayi, is a peppy number with good lines. ‘Idhu yennada mayam,' sung by Karthik and penned by Tamilamuthan, stands out for its melody. ‘Asku pusku,' penned by the same lyricist, is sung by Anitha, an Airtel Super Singer winner — One can hear the sounds of darbuka, tavil and urumi in this song. ‘Kannae yen kannae,' penned by Nanthalala, evokes melancholic feelings in the listener. ‘Manasukkullae maatram' is a repeat track of ‘Idhu yennada mayam' sung by Krithika Surjit. The last on the album is the theme.

What they say…

Producer Sankaranarayanan S and S. Indhu : We are very much impressed with the story — the film has a powerful message for the youth. We used different types of cameras, including the iPad and the iPhone, to shoot the film. We have done the entire post-production work in our office with the available facilities, including editing, DI, colour correction and special effects. If Kandathum Kanathathum proves a success, it will set a trend in digital post-production.

Director Seelan: Though I don't have any formal education in filmmaking, I have rich experience in direction and art direction. I've worked as an assistant under art directors such as Manirai, Veerasekar and cameraman Vijay Milton. Kandathum Kanathathum portrays a college love story sans a villain. I have done full justice to the script; let's see how the film fares at the box office.

Hero Vikas: Cinema is not new to me as I am the son of choreographer John Babu. Nesi marked my debut. This is my second movie. When I decided to enter filmdom, I learnt the basics of acting, dancing and fighting. To make it to the top as a full-fledged hero, what's required is hard work coupled with luck. I hope Kandathum Kanathathum proves to be a turning point in my career. The film is a neat, simple love story with a striking climax.

Music director V. A. Charlie: I learnt to play the violin from renowned violinist Michele Danraj. I have worked under Emmy Master, a well-known sound engineer. I am glad to have got the opportunity to work on director Seelan's Kandathum Kanathathum. Not only have the songs of the film but also the re-recording come out well.
