Ansiba

Ansiba

What’s in a title?

Remember the Superstar hit film, Pokkiri Raja (1982)? Well, ever since its release, a number of times have borrowed its title. Venkatesh did it first in 1995. And then, in 2010, Mammootty’s film, with the same title, was released. And now, it’s the turn of director Ramprakash Rayappa to use the title, for his movie that stars Jiiva and Hansika Motwani. What is it about this title? “Well, it is catchy and evokes curiosity. It also hints at a certain mischief and humour, which is all through my film, especially in the bits involving Jiiva and Sibiraj,” the director says.

Jallikattu on screen

Jallikattu may or may not be organised in the State, but it certainly finds a prominent place in director S. P. Rajkumar’s Paakanum Pola Irukku , a romantic comedy starring Bharathan, Ansiba, Suri and Ganja Karuppu.

“As my story occurs in a village, it was important that I bring out that rural flavour. So, I organised a miniature jallikattu of sorts for filming purposes. We have pictured a song with jallikattu as the backdrop,” says Rajkumar.
