A huge chunk of railway staff and their families enjoyed a side-splitting Hindi playlet Relax that provided much needed relaxation from routine work pressure at Raghava Kala Mandapam on DRM Office premises Visakhapatnam as part of 62 Railway Week celebrations.

Set against the backdrop of a hospital where a doctor and his wife Daya who is a nurse there, remain at loggerheads over personal issues rather than professional ones. The playlet opened with a scene in hospital where Daya approaches her doctor husband in joyous mood asking him how she looks today. Doctor as usual says nothing special. She then asks what the day was, pat comes reply Friday. Infuriated Daya reminds him that it was their marriage anniversary. Realizing his folly, doctor tries to cajole her but in comes a patient for a nonsensical complaint and then an inebriated man and so on all full of comic scenes of hospital. Thus goes their marriage anniversary.

A dispirited and downcast Daya even thinks of taking divorce. Then arrives a sensible patient and makes the couple see the life around, of how being together despite differences forms the life for a harmonious and happy life. The couple leave, hand in hand.

The narrative ran like a farce rather than theatrical content and its rib-tickling one liners and situational comedy sustained the interest all through. Its USP was a robust comedy; nevertheless it was not without its message for good human relations.

It gently thrusts the importance of understanding the sensibilities of wife and her natural urge to share emotive and sweet moments with her hubby at least on special occasions like their wedding anniversary.

Rupali Pani’s portrayal of a sensitive and doting wife who feels slighted at the indifference of her hubby to her subtle sensibilities excelled. The ease with which she wore the role was reflective of her histrionic talent.

Director of the play MK Mishra donned the role of doctor well, SS Banaik, S Sai Kumar and others formed the rest of the cast. SUM Rao, G Prabhakara Rao and VV Chakradhara Rao lent technical support.

A few dance numbers and rendition of popular songs were other items that delighted the audience.
