If you are one of those Star Wars fans unfortunate enough to be stuck in front of a computer while the movie event of the decade is on, the force may still be with you.

Google has planted a Jedi-level Easter egg for the release of The Force Awakens, the seventh Star Wars film, in its search engine.

In a cryptic tweet, Google had suggested that we “Search the beginning”, which even the lowest of space scum know is, ‘A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away’. The search results for the phrase appear in that goose-bumps-inducing scroll against a starry background that opened the Star Wars universe to us from the first movie onwards.

If that wasn’t enough to make the fandom go crazy, you can bring out your hidden stormtrooper (or hidden Sith, really. Google doesn’t discriminate despites its ‘Do no evil’ motto) to redecorate all your Google pages.

Google gives you the option of choosing the ‘Light’ side or the ‘Dark’ side theme for your Gmail, Google calendar, Google translate -- basically most of your Google stuff -- look like.

Your Gmail background turns into the home planet of the good guys or the villain’s lair, depending on your choice, while the preloader on YouTube is either blue or red.

Google Translate now has an additional language, Aurebesh and your Google calendar has an extra reminder telling you that ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in theaters everywhere’.

‘Star Wars: Force Awakens’ reportedly takes us to galaxies after the events of ‘The Return of the Jedi’ (Star Wars VI, but third to release in the franchise). Familiar faces, Han Solo, Chewy and the Millennium Falcon, are back as are Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.

Plot twists abound, but those in India won’t be catching a piece of the action until December 25, thanks to the release of blockbusters ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Dilwale’ - according to the Wall Street Journal.

But don’t get your lightsabers in a twist yet. It could be worse. According The Hollywood Reporter, the movie releases in China only on January 9.

Till then, contend with Google’s Easter eggs, fans have to.
