It has been a few days since Mahat Raghavendra left the Bigg Boss house, following an eventful 70 days that raised quite a few eyebrows. In a chat with MetroPlus, the actor, who is well known for his roles in films likeMankatha, gets candid about his experiences and future plans.
Your first thoughts after coming into the real world?
I’m happy and relieved, actually. I didn’t go in expecting to win. I signed up for the experience and the platform the show would give me. Now, so many people know me because of Bigg Boss , so I guess it’s been a good outcome.
Do you think living in such close quarters with the contestants brings out another side of a person?
This is like any other house. What happens here is similar to what happens in everyone’s homes. We consider ourselves a big family and all of us had our flaws, fun and disagreements. The problem starts when people start fixing characters and expect them to behave in a certain way, which isn’t practical. I think everybody has a villain, hero or comedian in them and it comes out every day based on circumstances. One week, I’m the bad guy, and the next week, it’s someone else. I’ve learned a lot about myself as well, thanks to this experience. I think I can handle problems better and I’ve learned not to get carried away or manipulated.
Would you say you were comfortable in the house?
It was a mixed bag. 70 days with no connection to the outside world is no joke. Though it’s all a game, when we’re inside, we take it personally. That’s why if something irritated me, I’d fight... like I would with a family member.
People think you have anger issues. Do you agree?
I believe my anger was misplaced. Like Kamal sir said, it was like a traffic jam fight. I don’t have any regrets, except for the way I behaved with Mumtaz, for which I have apologised. When she steps out of the House, I’ll be the first one to receive her.
How has Kamal Haasan being the host added to your experience?
I’ve grown up watching him. We were a family with many problems, but we had him to advise and correct us. Every time he’d call my name, it was like receiving a gift.
Who do you think will win?
I want Riythvika to win, but Aishwarya is also a strong contender. Unlike other people changing their characters too drastically, she’s genuine. I think everyone is playing it too safe and should open up a bit more.
So what are your plans now?
I’m still in a hangover from the show. Every morning, when I wake up or the phone rings, I hear the Bigg Boss voice. In just a few days after coming out of the House, I’ve been approached with some great offers from big production houses, which is all thanks to the exposure the show gave me. I hope to keep entertaining the audience in the future.
