Launching a scathing attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and the BJP, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said the AIADMK-BJP alliance in Tamil Nadu will be decimated in the upcoming Assembly poll on April 6.
Accusing Mr. Palaniswami of being corrupt and stealing Tamil people's money, Mr. Gandhi said the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was forced to fall at the feet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah because of his corruption. Terming the Assembly election as a battle between the AIADMK-BJP-RSS- Modi and Amit Shah versus the people of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Gandhi said, "The AIADMK-BJP alliance will be destroyed. But the battle does not end there. The attack on Tamil Nadu will not stop there. It will stop only when BJP and RSS are removed from Delhi," he said.
Mr. Gandhi said the BJP government at the Centre was resorting to a full-scale assault on the idea of India and Tamil Nadu. "They want a Tamil Nadu that bows down to them. Tamil Nadu has never bowed down in its 3000 years old history. But it has embraced people who has given it love and respect," he said.
Mr. Gandhi said his relationship with the people and State of Tamil Nadu was one of mutual respect and understanding. "India cannot exist without Tamil Nadu," he said. "I am not Tamil, but I understand you. If I learn Tamil I will understand you more, I am trying to read some of your literature," he said.
