It was not unusual for Malogam, the one-voter polling station in the Hayuliang Assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh, to record 100% voting on April 11, the first phase of polling.
That very day, Meghalaya’s smallest polling station, accessible only by boat, too had a voter turnout of 100%.
Polling officials said all the 33 voters of Kamsing not only exercised their franchise but were also given a special welcome ceremony when they arrived to conduct the voting.
Kamsing is a hamlet atop an isolated hillock fringed with areca trees.
One can reach the place by rowing across the Mayong river.
“All the voters of the hamlet invariably turn up on election day. No wonder, the Election Commission of India featured Kamsing in its table calender for the 2018 Assembly polls as well as the general elections this year,” said State’s Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor.
