Most complaints from New Delhi seat

The Election Commission’s cVIGIL app has received 2,004 complaints of Model Code of Conduct violations in Delhi up till Tuesday, according to a report from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer here.

Out of these, 1,445 complaints have been found to be correct by Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) and Returning Officers (RO) of the area. Among these, the highest number of cases have been registered in the New Delhi constituency, which has a sizeable population of government servants. Here, out of 561 complaints registered, 414 have found to be correct.

The least number of cases have been registered from North East Delhi at 34, out of which 17 were found to be correct. Out of all the complaints received, a total of 218 were dropped at the level of the District Contact Centre while 337 were dropped by the ARO or RO. In contrast, 218 FIRs have been filed for violations of the Model Code of Conduct up till May 1. Among these, 143 FIRs or Daily Diary entries have been filed against non-political persons, while 75 have been filed against political parties.
