BJP MLA for Jayanagar, B.N. Vijayakumar, passed away early on Friday following a massive heart attack. Election to Jayanagar constituency, from where he was seeking re-election, has been postponed.
Kumar, a two-time MLA, collapsed during campaigning on Thursday evening. He was rushed to the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology where he died at 1 a.m. on Friday.
A bachelor, the 60-year-old was a civil engineering graduate. He was known for his simplicity and mild manners. Political leaders cutting across party affiliations paid their condolences. His last rites were performed on Friday evening.
