Paswan faces revolt from son-in-law

Denied ticket, son-in-law to file candidates against NDA nominees

September 21, 2015 02:19 am | Updated March 28, 2016 06:53 pm IST - Patna:

Anil Kumar Sadhu, son-in-law of Lok Jan Shakti Party chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, raised the banner of revolt on Sunday after being denied the ticket for the Bihar elections. He accused Mr. Paswan and his son, Chirag Paswan, of “ignoring senior leaders and hijacking the party”.

“The party has expelled Anil Kumar Sadhu for six years for anti-party activities,” LJP spokesperson Lallan Chandravanshi said.

Mr. Sadhu wanted to contest from the Kutumba (reserved) seat in Aurangabad district. But under the seat-sharing arrangement of the National Democratic Alliance, Kutumba has gone to the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), which has fielded Santosh Kumar Manjhi, son of the former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, there.
