The friends you make until college are the ones who stick around longest. You might probably never get the same amount of time to spend with people and bond. So, why not make the best of it? Here are some engaging apps you can play while hanging out and getting to know each other better.

5 second guess

This game tests your general knowledge and ingenuity. First, you decide how many rounds you want to play and add the name of all the players. Each player gets a turn and is posed with a question which needs to be answered in five seconds. Everyone can decide whether the answers are correct/acceptable or not. After the time is up, you can mark the question as “Nailed it” or “Failed it”. Then, it is the next person’s turn. The questions are quite general and something everyone would know. For example, “Name three animals that can be found on a farm” or “Name three sports that involve jumping”. After everyone’s turn is over, it is the end of the round and the app displays the score of each player. Then you can start the second round. The person with the highest score at the end of the pre-defined set of rounds wins! It can be played by up to eight players. (http://bit.ly/2KeIu89)

Heads up

Popularised by American television host Ellen DeGeneres on her show, this game has no limit to the number of people who can play together. It begins with an explanation of how the game is played. You can then choose from a variety of card decks with different themes such as ‘That’s so 90s’, ‘Millennials’, ‘Act it out’, ‘Accents and impressions’, and so on. One of the players has to place the phone on his/her forehead with the screen facing the team. Based on the theme that has been chosen, you’ll be presented with different words or phrases and your teammates will have to give you clues so that you can guess what’s on the screen. If you get it right, you need to tilt the phone forwards and if you get it wrong, tilt it backwards. The objective is to make as many correct guesses as you can within a minute. The team with the most number of correct guesses wins. (http://bit.ly/2FnLHDm)

Out of the loop

Out of the loop can be played by three to nine players. First, you need to enter the name of all the players and choose a category, for example food, to begin the game. Then, you pass the phone to the person whose name appears on the screen. The app will display a word to everyone except one player. At the end of the round, everyone will know the word except for the person who is “Out of the loop”. Then, the discussion begins, and the app presents questions that players need to ask each other. At the end of the round, everyone needs to vote on who among them does not know the word. Those who correctly guess who was “Out of the loop” get 25 points. If most of the players are able to guess this, everyone gets 100 points. If the player who is out of the loop manages to stay “hidden”, he/she gets 50 points. Also, if this person correctly guesses what the word was, 125 points are awarded. (http://bit.ly/2KawaFy)
