Saina Nehwal defeated Mette Poulsen of Denmark 21-19 23-21 to progress to the second round of the Hong Kong Super Series event on Wednesday.

Parupalli Kashyap and Sourabh Verma, meanwhile, lost in their respective opening round encounters and were knocked out of the men’s singles event.

Kyle Kuzma scored a game-high 22 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 11 of his 21 points in the closing stages as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied from a 19-point deficit to win the game against Chicago Bulls 103-94 on Tuesday.

Real thump six past APOEL

Defending champions Read Madrid made it through to the last 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League with an emphatic 6-0 win over APOEL. The last two goals were scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, who took his UCL goals tally in 2017 to 18 with the brace.

Despite the victory, Real would have to be content with second place in their group, as Tottenham grabbed the top spot with a game to spare. After going a goal down against Borussia Dortmund, Spurs bounced back with goals from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to win the game 2-1.

Liverpool blow away lead in six-goal thriller

Liverpool, meanwhile, wasted a three-goal advantage and a chance to seal their last 16 slot as they allowed Sevilla to claim a point from the game. After scoring thrice in the opening half hour of the game, Liverpool saw hosts Sevilla mount a fierce second half fight back as they equalised in extra time for a 3-3 result.
