Kasparov draws with Karjakin

Out of retirement and returning to play at a competitive level for the first time in 12 years, Chess legend Garry Kasparov was held to a draw by fellow Russian Sergey Karjakin.

All three games of speed chess played between Kasparov and Karjakin as part of the Rapid and Blitz tournament in St. Louis ended in draws.

Ramkumar Ramanathan earned a place in the Cincinnati Masters as a lucky loser when Frenchman Gael Monfils withdrew with an illness.

Ramanathan made the most of his opportunity by progressing to the second round of the tournament with a 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Chris Eubanks.
